The National Key Laboratory Training Base of Yunnan Province Agricultural Biodiversity Utilization and Protection is supported by the Agriculture Biodiversity Pests and Diseases Control Key Laboratory of Ministry of Education and Yunnan Province Key Laboratory of Plant Pathology. Relying on the abundant resources of Yunnan Province, the experts have devoted to conducting researches concerning promoting food security using agricultural biodiversity for more than ten years. The professors and researchers have developed the theory and made a major breakthrough regarding using biodiversity to control pests and diseases. Numerous articles have been published, including the prestigious periodicals such as Nature. Patents have applied and registered, and the academic research results have been used extensively by local farmers, resulting in economical, social and ecological benefits. The laboratory has formed its own subject forefront research, which has been recognized home and abroad. The research projects have got the funds from GEF (Global Environment Facility of the United Nations) and the 973 project (the National Key Research and Development Plan for Science). The laboratory can enrolled Ph.D. students and host post-doctoral researchers. It was rewarded excellence in the laboratory assessment by the Ministry of education in 2005, and was approved to establish the National Key Laboratory Training Base of the Province and Ministry Joint Program in 2009.
