During Oct. 21 to 23, 2016, YAU’s teams won 4 team championships and 7 first prizes in the 9thBIM Quantity Survey Contest & the 7thApplication Contest of Sand Table Simulation Software for Construction Management in the National BIM Application Skills Contest of Secondary and Higher Educational Institutions, which is the most influential and top-level contest in the engineering construction field in China. YAU, therefore, achieved the best result in this field among Yunnan’s colleges and universities, and also won the most top prizes among the 224 institutions of the south China competition area.
Under the guidance of Han Lihong, Li Yunchun, Li Jingmin, Zhou Yunchuan and other teachers of YAU’s College of Architectural Engineering, one of YAU’s teams composed of Wang Xingchong, Wang Shaohua and Fu Bojin——students majoring in Construction Cost Management——won 2 first prizes in the Conventional Contest and the Challenge of the Quantity Survey Contest of Construction Cost, 1 championship in the Bidding Challenge, and the team won the all-round championship. The team composed of Lu Hao, Teng Qi, and Yang Shijun, and another team composed of Shao Xuefeng, Sun Hongwen and Zheng Di, who are all students majoring in Engineering Management, won 2 first prizes respectively in the conventional sand table contest of construction management and the BIM 5D Challenge, and 2 championships in the Bidding Challenges. With their excellent performance, they finally got 2 all-round first prizes.
The contests were held at Henan University of Technology and Jilin Jianzhu University simultaneously, and sponsored by China Association of Architecture Education. More than 2,500 students of 500 teams from almost 500 institutions took part in the contests, including Tsinghua University, Peking University, Beijing Jiaotong University, Central University of Finance and Economics, Sichuan University, Chongqing University, Central South University, Shandong University, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, Anhui Jianzhu University, and Jilin Jianzhu University. The south and north competition areas contested simultaneously, and took team work and special skills test as the main competitive contents, fully embodying the consciousness of innovation and high-quality integrative competence of the participants.
YAU attached great importance to the contests, and selected 12 excellent students to form 4 teams. Professional teachers were appointed to give one-year special training to the teams. Instructors from Yunnan and other provinces also were invited to give targeted guidance to the participants. Nothing is impossible for a willing heart, and their hard work finally pays off!
